Single Of The Day: Celine Dion - Immortality

Canadian diva Celine Dion recorded a ballad pop song as her latest single. The name of the single is "Immortality." The song was written by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, and Maurice Gibb of the legendary Bee Gees, who also provide backing vocals on the track. This single is also available on her studio album "Let's Talk About Love" released in November 1997.

Columbia Records and Epic Records released "Immortality" as CD single and cassette single on 5 June 1998. This single follows the massive success of her previous single "My Heart Will Go On," still in pop ballad form with soft vocal harmony, but the Bee Gees also give a backing vocal on the song. The song was produced by Walter Afanasieff and has already found success in Europe, reaching #5 in the UK charts. Interestingly, the song was originally written in 1996 for the Saturday Night Fever stage musical, before being offered to Celine. According to music industry insiders, the Bee Gees composed the melody in just a matter of minutes during a recording session, showing their incredible songwriting abilities.
