Album Review: Jet - Get Born
Australian rock band Jet released their debut studio album "Get Born" on 14 September 2003 under Elektra Records and Capitol Records. This album was produced by Dave Sardy.
"Get Born" received generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 70, based on 15 reviews. Alternative Press gave it a rave review and found Jet's songs catchy and their appeal diverse. Q magazine said that the album's raw immediacy belies its dated influences. Uncut called it "an efficient if fairly joyless hybrid of the Stones, AC/DC and Oasis". In a negative review, Pitchfork Media wrote that Jet sounds like "everyone's favorite old rock bands" and have "insipid lyrics", including interjections such as "Come On!" and "Oh Yeah!" sung "every five seconds". Robert Christgau of The Village Voice cited "Rollover D.J." and "Look What You've Done" as highlights and remarked that the band has "the juice and talent to make their retro happen without the brains or vision to run with it". He gave the album a two-star honorable mention, indicating a "likable effort consumers attuned to its overriding aesthetic or individual vision may well enjoy". In October 2010, "Get Born" was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.

Album Review: Ricky Martin - Ricky Martin
Puerto Rican recording artist Ricky Martin released his fifth album "Ricky Martin" on 11 May 1999 under Columbia Records. There are five singles from this album, "Livin' La Vida Loca", "She's All I Ever Had", "Shake Your Bon-Bon" and "Private Emotion".
In a contemporary review for The Village Voice, music critic Robert Christgau gave Ricky Martin a "C" and dismissed its "slicked-up rhythm workouts and romantic pap" as conventional tactics from "one more crappy pop star". Rolling Stone magazine's James Hunter gave it three out of five stars and felt it lacks the excitement of Ricky Martin's 1998 album "Vuelve" because of its remixes and Diane Warren-penned songs. However, he said that Martin's take on Latin pop is made interesting enough by highlights such as "Livin' La Vida Loca", "Shake Your Bon-Bon" and the perfectly constructed ballad sung with Madonna. In a retrospective review for AllMusic, senior editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave the album four out of five stars and said that despite moments of filler and outdated production, its songs are balanced well between uptempo dance-pop songs, power ballads, and midtempo pop songs on a big, bold album with something to please everyone, from his longtime Latin fans to housewives with a weakness for dramatic ballads.

01. Livin' La Vida Loca
02. Spanish Eyes
